RFD 1, GRANGELY
A collection of previously-published,
humorous Maine stories.
[Perrin] is a hoot, the genuine article, and
his short stories are small bitey gems about
the everyday ways people get along (and don't).

ELMHURST COMMUNITY THEATRE
by Carl Perrin
Curtis Booth, a washed-up, out-of-work, bit-part, Hollywood actor, is offered a stipend to direct an amateur play.
He does not want to do it, but he is desperate for money. The play, it turns out, is terrible, and the actors are worse.
Each rehearsal is more disastrous than the one before. The opening night is a catastrophe in which the set collapses on the actors.
The show is so bad that--
--everyone loves it.
The community theatre wants Curtis to direct another play. He still needs money, and he thinks nothing can be worse than the play he just directed.
He is wrong about that.
